Our Commitment to Inclusion
Empowering Individuals Through Sports
At Fauquier Special Olympics, we strive to provide a platform for individuals with intellectual disabilities to experience the joy of sports. This page outlines our commitment to inclusivity, the values we uphold, and the expectations we have for participants, volunteers, and supporters. We believe in creating a safe and welcoming environment where everyone can thrive, and we encourage you to reach out if you have any questions or need further information.
Athlete Eligibility & Participation Guidelines
Our participation guidelines are designed to ensure that every athlete can benefit from our programs. Athletes aged 8 and older with intellectual disabilities are welcome to join us. We provide various sports training and competition opportunities, emphasizing teamwork, skill development, and fun. No prior experience is necessary, and we encourage individuals of all backgrounds to get involved.
Volunteer and Supporter Roles
Fauquier Special Olympics, including the Board, administrators and coaches are all volunteers. We count on volunteer support to help us run events, coach athletes, and foster a positive community spirit. Those interested in volunteering can find various roles, from coaching and mentoring athletes to assisting with event organization. As a supporter, you play a crucial role in creating opportunities for our athletes to shine and succeed.
